The University of Texas frequently shares its biological materials with third-parties for use in research. OTC manages all transfer of materials under patent or patent pending protection transferred from the University. In order to facilitate the transfer of materials between the University and other institutions or commercial entities, a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) form must be used.

When using the standard MTA form, the transfer of materials may be completed in a few days. Any changes or modifications to the University MTA form will result in significant delay due to the legal review process.
