2004 'Ready to Commercialize' conference

Thanks for attending 2004 Ready to Commercialize: Emerging Opportunities for Investors, Partners, and CXOs. The event brought together VCs, angels, corporate investors, CXOs, entrepreneurs and related professionals to review opportunities in software, wireless, nanomaterials, semiconductor, healthcare, automotive, and energy. In addition to the select technology presentations, speakers included Adam Heller, founder of TheraSense, a company based on University of Texas technology that was recently sold to Abbott Labs for $1.2 billion. The program also featured remarks from Texas Governor Rick Perry and University of Texas at Austin President Larry Faulkner. A series of panel sessions, including "Structuring a Deal with the University" and "Technology Initiatives for the State of Texas," were part of the overall program.

The TheraSense Story
From UT technology to product; from company to IPO. TheraSense was founded in 1996 by Adam and Ephraim Heller to develop and market glucose monitoring devices. The company was recently acquired by Abbott Labs for $1.2 billion. Adam Heller will speak about the founding of TheraSense and its technology.
